365 Deals for U Introduces QR Code Redemption Option For Merchants

365 Deals for U has introduced an easy, new way for merchants running deals on the site to redeem the vouchers bought by 365 users.

Users now see something called a ‘QR Code’ when they view their vouchers. This mark is readable by several pieces of software, most of which are found on smartphones, and greatly increase our ability to track usage and prevent abuse of deals.

Think of a QR Code like you would a barcode on a product at the supermarket. While supermarket scanners read a single series of numbers encoded in the barcode on a product, QR code scanners can read a very large repository of information. In the case of a voucher, the code takes the merchant to a special webpage where they confirm that they wish to redeem the voucher they scanned.

Scanning a QR code is pretty easy, and you’ve got all the equipment you need if you’ve got a cell phone with a camera on it. There are several free QR code readers for download, but we recommend the following:

• For iPhones: Barcodes Scanner, by Romain Pechayre.

After downloading and launching the app, simply hold the camera over the code until the image captures. You’ll be prompted to go to the page where you can redeem the voucher.
